Personally, I like Pensacola Beach better, and if you take advantage of the NPS pass allowing you entry for seven days, you've got quiet, secluded beach areas down there if you want it, or you can go to the Casino Beach area (there isn't really a casino there) where you'll have access to restaurants and such, but know that it will be insanely crowded.īest of luck planning your trip.Twelfth Night - Connecticut Repertory Theatre I've never been there myself, but I've heard that kids love it, so that might be something to look into for some fun play time for your kids on the day you go downtown. Since you mentioned the Historic Pensacola Village and MESS Hall activities downtown, the Community Maritime Park (AKA Blue Wahoos Stadium) is on the water on Main Street and has a children's park onsite that is open to the public, from my understanding. Residence Inn and Courtyard Inn by Marriott, on Chase or Gregory Street. There are two hotels between the foot of the bridge on the Pensacola side and downtown, but you'd have to check reviews, because I know nothing about them. basically, close to the bridge from Pensacola to Gulf Breeze. If you look for an Airbnb or VRBO that is NOT directly on the beach, check out Gulf Breeze, Navarre, and even Pensacola, closer to downtown or in East Hill, Cordova Park, East Pensacola Heights. īeach lodging in May is going to be crazy expensive. I can't recommend anywhere to stay near there, because I've only been to the caverns during the day and not for an overnight stay. Move Cypress Springs to the end and maybe do that as a separate stop and overnight stay close by on the way home. Someone else mentioned breaking up the trip on the way back, and that's what I would suggest. If you stay at Pensacola Beach, you could be looking at a two hour (or more?) drive one way to Cypress Springs during that time of year due to traffic, so it doesn't make sense to do anything in or near Pensacola on both sides of that excursion. I think your Cypress Springs day is out of order. You have a lot quieter, less busy stretch of beach area down there to enjoy as well. You could pack a picnic lunch and spend the better part of a day exploring around Fort Pickens and some of the military structures still there. ![]() Fort Pickens is part of the Gulf Islands National Seashore, run by the National Park Service, and the entry fee ($25 per vehicle) will cover you for seven days if you keep your receipt to show when you return. You can get a self-guided tour map and check it out at your own pace. ![]() Guided tour or not, Fort Pickens is a must. Even if you can't get on base to visit the museum or see the Blues practice from the flight line, you can go to Fort Pickens on a practice day and see them at a close enough distance for it to still be a cool experience. Also, the Blue Angels post their practice schedule online, so once the 2022 dates are posted, you can check and see when they'll be flying. Check their website before you try to visit. DOD ID is currently required for entry to NAS to go to the Naval Aviation Museum, which may not change before you visit. Answer: Some of this may have already been mentioned, but. ![]()
